Reservoir Cogs is a  leisure cycling club based in Blessington Co. Wicklow. The Club was formed in 2012.  We are affiliated with Cycling Ireland and cater for all levels of ability and fitness from beginners to competition riders and some mountain bikers. With over 100 members we are a thriving cycling club. The ‘Cogs’ have an ethos of keeping the social and fun side to cycling. Having said that there is always the opportunity to partake in some seriously challenging cycling. Club members have participated in all of the major sportives in Ireland and some prestigeous events in Europe including the Marmotte and Mallorca 312. We also have members that are involved in the Audax and endurance side of cycling who have completed the Celtic Knot 1000km endurance event.

Another important aspect to our club is raising money for charity through the running of two separate cycle sportives. The Reservoir Dog Sportive and the Cycle4DSI – Lap de Gaps have raised tens of thousands for Down Syndrome Ireland and local charities in Blessington and have gained reputations as ‘must do’ events among the wider cycling community.

Club rides for three separate groups are organised on a weekly basis throughout the year. Midweek club rides run thoughout the summer. Being located in Blessington affords us the oportunity to cycle in spectacular scenery in a variety of terrain. Routes for rides change every week and are are a great way to discover our county and a few other counties besides! We are a very welcoming, inclusive club so anyone that is interested can join us.  If you would like more information regarding anything about our club please see the Contact Us tab at the top of this page.

Lorcan Stack

Enjoys exploring, new back roads and mountain trails, sometimes gets lost but no such thing as a ” cul de sac”.

Jennifer Kavanagh

Jennifer Kavanagh took up cycling when the Reservoir Cogs was set up. She didnt even own a bike to start and borrowed her sisters. From an active horsey backround and active lifestyle growing up the cogs put her through her paces in no time. Since the beginning they’ve signed me up for all things cycle-related including Wicklow 200 and Majorca312. Enjoys anything adrenaline enduced and probably endurance my strongest point (I think!). Loves company and witt on cycles and scones with jam and cream and large cup of coffee my dream cycling stop and incentive!

Declan Roe

Declan is the Road group rep on the committee. He has had a longstanding love of cycling and likes going up and down hills on his bike.Though he is much better at the ‘coming down the hills’ bit. Declan also goes by the nick name ‘Route Meister Roe’ and sets the routes for the Club Sunday spins.

David Irwin

David is the club Secretary and enjoys looking at scenery rather than the back wheel of the bike ahead on road spins. David has discovered a new found love of Audax rides.

Iain Nash

Iain is the club P.R.O. “That was an easy hill”, “I love climbing”, and “Oh, look! A Strava top 10!” are 3 things Iain has never said. Iain took up cycling and joined the Cogs in 2015 and still gets lost within 5 minutes of a spin beginning.  If you read about the Cogs on social media, or in an email, that was probably Iain. Fun fact: Iain still can’t fix a puncture.
